Five helpful ways to save money every day
Everyone loves saving money. It doesn’t matter where you currently are in your personal finance journey because everyone can do just a few things to turn their financial situation around to where it should be. Also, it doesn’t matter how much money you make because everyone wants to be able to save as much money as they can on the things they need and want in life. Life is always better when you are saving some money, even if it is just a little bit. Here are five pieces of advice you should be using to save money.
With TV and movie streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Video, and Hulu, it is easier than ever to still get your TV and movie fix without paying for cable. Many people only stream their TV and movies now and save a lot of money per year this way. It is especially true if you are paying out hundreds of dollars or more per month for about 150 to 200 channels and you only watch maybe five or 10 of them every day.
You can get Netflix and Hulu for only $8 per month and they both work almost the same. The main difference between the two is that Hulu has next day episodes when Netflix normally makes you wait until the season is over before they put it on there. Amazon Video is only a few more dollars per month and they have even more for the price. Just try it once and see how addicted you get to it. You will love it!
Whether it is Christmas, Birthday’s, or just because, you can save a lot of money if you make your friends and family gifts instead of paying out a lot of money. Not only will the gifts you make them come from your heart, and make them appreciate them more, but if you spend a ton of money on them, whatever you buy will most likely sit and collect dust within a few months to a year after they have forgotten about it. It is always better to make those special people in your life their gifts than to literally waste money when buying them something expensive.
If you just go into the store and buy whatever you see that you think you want, and you really don’t need it or even don’t want it by the time you get home, you will spend more money than you should. It is so important to know what you are getting when going in so you won’t waste money on things you don’t need or don’t really want. Sit down before going shopping and make a list and stick to it. Whatever you do, don’t buy anything not on the list or you will be spending more money than you should.
Eating out might be fun for the whole family, and friends too if you take them, but it can also get really expensive. It can definitely get expensive if you do it quite often. Why not buy what you need from a good grocery store that sells healthy and inexpensive food items and start cooking at home a lot more often? You can even invite other family and some close friends over and make it fun for everyone! Try it out, you will save so much money.
Repair it instead. You can even get creative with older clothing and make something new out of it instead of buying brand new clothes. Think about it, some of the “new” stuff in stores aren’t even that good quality anymore. Many of the so-called new clothing ends up wearing down and getting holes in them too soon far too often. If you are handy with a needle and thread or even a sewing machine, you can definitely save a lot of money by repairing and making new clothing out of old instead of buying brand new.
Using the tips above will save you so much money in the short-term and even in the longer term. There are even more ways you can save money but this advice should be put into place right away to save you the most of your money where it really matters.
